Moulded open-mesh grating: Step on Safety datasheet SOS-DSP-04, V4 dated 25 January 2019, states a manufacturer-declared suggested lifespan of 25 years that is expected, not guaranteed. The source makes it dependent on environment, installation, maintenance, loading and traffic. It is not applied as a catalogue-wide figure or product guarantee; applicability to the exact variant and project must be confirmed.
A defensible statement needs the exact product and resin system, fibre and resin content, manufacturing method, UV and temperature exposure, chemicals, moisture or marine exposure, fire exposure, loads and spans, impact, abrasion and surface wear, cutting and edge sealing, installation quality, fixing compatibility, inspection and maintenance, indoor or outdoor use, and a named evidence source and revision.
Corrosion resistance does not mean that GRP cannot deteriorate. Surface wear, impact, incompatible chemicals, heat, UV, damaged edges, poor supports, incorrect fixings and loads outside the verified design can all affect performance.
