GRP Chemical Resistance Guide
Use this searchable guide to screen GRP resin suitability by chemical, concentration and maximum reference temperature. The data below is aligned to GRP Express internal chemical resistance datasheets for isophthalic polyester resin and the vinyl ester addendum.
Project verification required: chemical compatibility depends on concentration, operating temperature, exposure duration, cleaning regime, ventilation, loading, additives and mixed chemicals. The figures are reference test temperatures, not guaranteed maximum service temperatures. Confirm the final resin system for the specific project before ordering.
Isophthalic versus vinyl ester resin
Standard GRP resin route for many wet, salt, mild chemical and general industrial environments. Where a row is marked LS, the source identifies limited service life and the project should be reviewed before use.
Specialist route for selected aggressive chemicals and lower-temperature acid exposure. The SharePoint vinyl ester datasheet is an addendum, so it lists only the chemicals covered by that addendum.

How to use this guide
Start with the closest listed concentration. If the environment is a blend, vapour, splash, immersion or cleaning cycle, request review before specification.
The value is the upper temperature at which the resin has been tested in the source datasheet. It is not an automatic service guarantee.
Resin selection may affect GRP grating, stair treads, pultruded profiles, fixings and fabricated assemblies differently because cut edges, drainage and loading vary.
Record chemicals, concentration, operating and maximum temperatures, exposure duration, cleaning agents and whether the contact is splash, vapour, immersion or continuous.

Can this table be used as a final chemical compatibility guarantee?
No. It is an initial resin-selection guide. Project conditions must be verified before the resin system is specified, quoted or ordered.
When should vinyl ester resin be considered?
Vinyl ester should be considered where the environment is more aggressive, where isophthalic resin is not recommended or limited service, or where a project calls for a specialist chemical-resistant resin route.
What does LS mean?
LS means limited service life in the internal source datasheet. Treat any LS row as requiring project-specific technical review before use.
What does N/R mean?
N/R means not recommended for that resin route under the stated reference condition. It does not automatically rule out every GRP option, but it does mean the project needs technical review.
What information is needed for resin verification?
Provide chemical name, concentration, normal and maximum temperatures, exposure duration, drainage, cleaning chemicals, product type and whether exposure is splash, vapour, immersion or continuous.
