What we can help prepare

GRP grating panel for cut to size preparation

GRP grating panels

Panels can be supplied full size or prepared to suit openings, walkways, platforms, covers, plant rooms and repeated bay dimensions.

GRP angle profiles for cutting and fabrication

Profiles and frame parts

Angles, channels, box section, tubes and toe plate can be cut into more useful lengths for site teams and fabrication partners.

GRP Express warehouse for project packed materials

Project packs

For repeat jobs, GRP Express can help group materials by area, bay, drawing reference or installation phase to make delivery easier to manage.

How to send a clean cut-to-size enquiry

Product

Name the material: standard mesh, mini mesh, solid top, slab, angle, channel, box section, tube or anti-slip sheet.

Dimensions

Send finished sizes in millimetres, including quantity, thickness and any tolerance or site-critical edge.

Shape

Mark notches, holes, service penetrations, chamfers, radius corners or CNC-style complex shapes clearly on a sketch or drawing.

Context

Tell us the span, support, environment, fixing method and whether the pieces are removable covers, walkways or frame components.

Cutting route by material

MaterialCommon preparationKey check
Standard mesh gratingPanel sizing, notches, service openings, repeated walkway bays.Keep load-bearing direction and support edges clear.
Mini mesh gratingPedestrian panels, public-facing access routes, smaller covers.Check opening requirement and cleaning regime.
Solid top gratingClosed covers, plant decks, service panels and shaped access pieces.Plan drainage, weight and edge sealing/detail.
GRP profilesCut lengths for angles, channels, box section, tubes, toe plate and frame parts.Confirm fixing holes, cut angles and labelled quantities.

Turn the site problem into a practical cut list.

Photos, sketches and marked-up drawings are all useful. The earlier we see the awkward bits, the easier it is to reduce waste, site time and ordering mistakes.

Technical grating checkpoint

Cut-to-size grating requires an engineered cut plan

A cutting schedule should preserve the structural direction, bearing, safe remnants, opening support and fixing access while reducing waste and site labour.

Dimensioned layoutProvide overall areas, supports, openings, panel joints, datum and tolerances.
Bearing directionMark structural direction on every piece and avoid rotating directional pultruded panels.
Perimeter supportSupport cut edges, penetrations and narrow panels; frame openings where required.
IdentificationUse a piece mark, drawing reference and installation sequence for repeated or complex layouts.
Specification areaWhat to establishEngineering boundary
Cut dimensionsFinished size, tolerance, kerf allowance and edge condition.Confirm whether dimensions are opening sizes or finished component sizes.
Cut edgesResin system and required edge sealing/treatment.Cut treatment protects exposed fibres; it does not restore removed structural bars.
Waste and offcutsOptimised nesting, reusable remnants and safe minimum piece sizes.Do not optimise material at the expense of bearing or handling safety.
Fixing packageClip type/depth, quantity, panel joints and support material.Supply fixings against the approved layout rather than a generic panel count alone.

Important: A cut list is not a structural design. Confirm load, span, support and aperture requirements before optimising the panel yield.

Primary references: relevant current parts of BS 4592; ISO 14122-2:2016 where machinery access is in scope; and project-specific load, fire, chemical and access requirements.

Cut-to-size information to confirm

Before requesting cut-to-size GRP, confirm the product family, finished dimensions, tolerances, cut-outs, fixing points, edge finishing, quantity and delivery requirement.

Panel products

Use this route for grating, covers, anti-slip sheets and shaped panel requirements.
