GRP is not selected on sector name alone. Final suitability depends on the actual structure, environment, duty and project evidence.

Exact campus zone and intended access function.
Clear dimensions, panel sizes and opening geometry.
Span direction, bearing and support centres.
Load cases, point loads and acceptable deflection.
Fixed, restrained, hinged or lift-out panel requirement.
Pedestrian, trolley, equipment or possible vehicle exposure.
Slip, drainage, aperture and dropped-object requirements.
Electrical or non-metallic requirement and governing specification.
Fire-performance requirement and verified resin/test evidence.
Indoor, rooftop, UV, weather, chemical or washdown exposure.
Cut-outs, cable penetrations, frames and interface tolerances.
Fixing substrate, material compatibility and restraint detail.

Do not assume that standard pedestrian grating is suitable for vehicle loading, that every GRP grade has the same fire or electrical performance, or that a panel can span an opening without verified data.

Data-centre risers, plant decks and service routes often include cable containment, ducts, plinths, pipework and irregular openings. CNC preparation may help where dimensions and the supporting layout have been verified.

Important boundary

Cutting a shape does not establish structural adequacy. Supports, loads, edge distances and restraint still require confirmation.

Where can GRP be considered on a data-centre campus?

Common enquiry areas include rooftop and cooling plant access, plant decks, maintenance routes, service risers, cable trenches, service pits, generator compounds and selected battery or electrical areas. Each zone needs its own load, exposure, fire, electrical, support and fixing checks.

Can GRP provide non-conductive flooring in electrical areas?

Some GRP products may offer useful non-metallic or electrically non-conductive characteristics, but the exact product, test evidence, installation, contamination risk and project electrical specification must be reviewed. Do not treat the generic material description as an electrical-system approval.

What information is needed for a plant deck or rooftop walkway?

Send the layout, route width, supports, spans, access frequency, loads, roof and plant interfaces, drainage, weather exposure, edge-protection needs, fixing restrictions and any client standard.

Can GRP panels be cut around services and cable penetrations?

Cut-to-size and CNC preparation may be possible from verified dimensions, drawings or templates. The remaining panel geometry, support arrangement, load path, edge treatment and restraint must still be suitable.

Which GRP product is suitable over a cable trench?

The route depends on clear opening, bearing, span, pedestrian or equipment loading, lifting frequency, drainage or closed-surface needs, restraint, access below and possible vehicle overrun. Use the dedicated trench-cover guide for the full checklist.

What should be confirmed for fire performance?

Confirm the project requirement, product form, resin system, test method, classification, thickness and end-use conditions. A general statement such as “fire retardant” is not enough to establish compliance for a specific data-centre zone.
