What load should a GRP access platform be designed for?
The loads must come from the intended use and governing project basis. GRP Express uses the established UDL, point-load footprint, span and deflection criteria to help identify suitable product information; it does not establish the structural design loads.
Can GRP grating span in either direction?
No assumption should be made. Moulded and pultruded products have defined load-bearing directions and must be oriented over the verified clear span.
Can a platform be fixed to an existing roof or slab?
Only after the existing construction, waterproofing, edge distances and all vertical, horizontal and uplift reactions are checked by the responsible project team.
Does a lighter GRP frame remove the need for foundations?
No. Lower self-weight can reduce permanent action but imposed loads, overturning, wind and local support reactions still need a verified load path.
What information is needed for a component quotation?
Provide approved drawings, dimensions, clear spans, support details, product requirements, exposure, quantities and whether standard or cut-to-size components are needed.
