What to inspect
Walking surface
Look for contamination, worn grit, damaged edges, blocked drainage, loose panels and trip hazards.
Fixings and supports
Check clips, clamps, anchors, baseplates, adhesive bonds, missing hardware and support movement.
Environment changes
Review new chemicals, oils, cleaning agents, traffic, impact, UV exposure or heat that was not part of the original selection.

Build GRP inspection around risk and exposure
GRP is low-maintenance rather than maintenance-free. The inspection interval should reflect traffic, environment, access consequence and previous findings. Records make it easier to identify changes before they become defects.
Routine visual checks
Look for contamination, blocked mesh, loose or missing fixings, impact damage, worn grit, movement, ponding, sharp edges and changes to adjacent supports.
Periodic detailed checks
Review panel bearing, clips, anchors, handrail movement, cut edges, adhesive bonds, corrosion of metal fixings and any change in chemical or temperature exposure.
Cleaning controls
Use a method compatible with the resin, grit, adhesive, substrate and surrounding process. Prevent residue or aggressive cleaning agents from creating a new slip or compatibility risk.
