GRP angles for fabrication, framing and edge details

GRP angles are L-shaped pultruded fibreglass profiles used for edging, framing, cleats, brackets, stops, guards, perimeter details and selected support arrangements where corrosion resistance, low weight or non-metallic construction is useful.

3 m online length

The priced 50 × 40 × 6 mm configuration can be selected online. Delivery charge and service depend on quantity and destination.

5 m quotation length

The 76 × 76 × 6.35 mm phenolic-coded SKU requires resin, performance, price and delivery confirmation before supply.

6 m long-length freight

Priced configurations can be selected online. Review access, unloading and postcode-dependent freight before ordering.

Material, pultrusion and directional behaviour

Pultrusion draws glass reinforcement and resin through a heated die to form a continuous L-shaped profile. Relevant confirmed products may be supplied against BS EN 13706 material-grade requirements, but the applicable grade, resin system and evidence must be checked for the selected SKU.
Material-property data does not create a universal safe load, unsupported span or connection capacity. Pultruded profiles are directionally reinforced, so loading across the profile, local holes, notches, end distances and restraint can govern the finished detail.

  • Cleats, brackets and fabricated frame components.
  • Selected grating-bearing and support details where loading, bearing and connection design have been verified.
  • Walkway, platform, plant-access and service-route fabrication.

Design boundary: do not assume a generic GRP support angle is suitable for a structural or safety-critical role. Confirm load direction, span, bearing, restraint, holes, fasteners, edge distances, substrate and environmental exposure against the actual design.

Wet, chemical, marine, electrical and exposed environments

GRP angles are often considered where corrosion, moisture, salt exposure, chemicals, outdoor weather or a non-metallic profile is useful. Final suitability depends on the confirmed resin, exposure concentration and temperature, UV requirements, fire-performance requirement, electrical specification, colour and fastener compatibility.
“Non-conductive” describes a relevant material characteristic; it is not by itself an approval for a particular electrical installation. Likewise, a phenolic-coded SKU requires its exact resin and performance evidence to be confirmed.

Cutting, drilling, fixing and edge finishing

  • Use suitable composite cutting and drilling equipment with guards and dust extraction.
  • Follow the applicable task assessment, PPE and respiratory-protection requirements.
  • Confirm hole positions, diameter, spacing and minimum edge distance before drilling.
  • Avoid unnecessary notches and abrupt changes that create local stress concentrations.
  • Seal or finish cut edges where required by the product, environment or project procedure.
  • Use fasteners compatible with the substrate, GRP profile and operating environment.
  • Inspect the completed assembly before the access route, guard or equipment detail enters service.
