Moulded and pultruded grating can look similar at a glance, but their reinforcement and load behaviour are different. Selection should begin with span direction, load, deflection, support arrangement, opening requirement and environment.
Moulded grating
Reinforcement is distributed through a moulded grid, giving useful panel behaviour in both directions. It suits many platforms, walkways, trenches and wet or corrosive access routes.
Pultruded grating
Continuous fibres run predominantly along the bearing bars. This creates directional stiffness, so orientation, supports and load data are central to the design.
Surface and openings
Mesh, bar spacing, open area, grit, solid-top finish and pedestrian use can be as important as panel depth. Confirm drainage and dropped-object requirements.
