Trench and pit covers require a defined load and consequence assessment
The design must distinguish pedestrian access, maintenance loading, wheeled equipment and possible vehicle overrun. Cover weight, restraint, lifting and safe access below are part of the system.

Important: Pedestrian grating is not a vehicle cover. Where overrun is credible, design for it or physically prevent access.
