13 GRP access structures delivered in two weeks
Five mobile platforms, four fixed platforms and four GRP stair structures were fabricated, loaded and dispatched for the SUEZ waste and recycling centre in Southend.

The challenge
High-volume fabrication for a tough working environment
The waste and recycling facility required a substantial package of access equipment rather than a single standard structure. Each item had to be fabricated efficiently while maintaining consistent safety, finish and readiness for deployment.
The programme allowed only two weeks for 13 major structures. The material also needed to withstand a demanding waste-handling environment where corrosion, electrical safety and ongoing maintenance matter.

The fabrication response
A mixed access package built as one production run
The workshop fabricated five mobile access platforms, four fixed access platforms and four GRP stair structures. Standardised GRP material characteristics were combined with bespoke fabrication to meet the individual access requirements.
- Five mobile access platforms
- Four fixed access platforms
- Four GRP stair structures
- Non-conductive, non-corrosive construction for long-term service
Project delivery
From requirement to completed access
Plan
Sequence the 13 structures across a compressed workshop programme.
Fabricate
Cut, assemble and finish platforms and stairs under controlled conditions.
Check
Maintain consistent quality across different structure types.
Dispatch
Securely load and transport the completed package to Southend.

The installed system
Built, grouped and transported ready for deployment
The completed structures were organised and loaded with the support of David Watson Transport. Careful grouping and restraint protected the fabricated systems while making the large mixed package practical to move.
GRP construction delivered the lightweight handling, corrosion resistance and electrical non-conductivity suited to a demanding waste and utilities environment.
Delivery and outcome
Scale and speed without losing fabrication control
All 13 structures were completed and dispatched within the two-week programme. The project reinforced the value of repeatable workshop processes for bespoke GRP access equipment and supported a returning client with a fast, coordinated delivery.
