Real projects. Practical product routes.
GRP proven in the places that matter
See how GRP grating, profiles, platforms, stairs, ladders and covers perform across water, rail, marine, waste and construction environments.
Experience behind the products
Not catalogue theory. GRP in use.
A technical data sheet explains what a material can do. A completed project shows how the product responds to corrosion, difficult access, installation constraints, heavy use and demanding environments.
These examples connect proven applications from the wider Vital group with GRP products and buying routes available through GRP Express.

From failing steel to durable GRP
Each project starts with a site problem and ends with a practical product decision: the right form of GRP, prepared for its environment and installation route.

Anglian Water chamber cover replacement
A badly corroded steel cover had been removed, leaving an outfall chamber exposed. Following a survey, the team designed a complete GRP frame and solid-top floor system, prefabricated it off site and completed the installation ahead of schedule.

Oxford Brookes University trench covers
Willmott Dixon required a safer, lighter replacement for outdated concrete trench covers within a live engineering facility. Solid GRP covers provided anti-slip surfacing, easier handling and a corrosion-resistant finish, with installation completed to the required programme.

GRP across demanding environments
Use the closest application as a starting point. Product dimensions, resin systems, loading and fixing details must still be checked against each project.

Modular access steps for Network Rail
Four lightweight, slip-resistant GRP access steps created a practical route from a new retaining wall. The modular design enabled installation by the client team without specialist lifting equipment.

Thirteen access structures in two weeks
Five mobile platforms, four fixed platforms and four GRP stair units were fabricated, prepared and dispatched for a demanding waste-handling environment.

Mamsha Al Mugheirah boardwalk
GRP grating and structural profiles were selected for saltwater exposure, intense UV and a sensitive mangrove setting. Vinylester resin, UV inhibitors and a custom wood-tone pigment supported the environmental and visual brief.

Raised walkway for an oil tanker
A 3D-coordinated GRP gantry created safe walking and maintenance routes across a congested deck while protecting M&E services. Prefabrication supported installation in six days during the refit programme.

Phenolic access structures offshore
Phenolic grating and GRP profiles formed multi-level walkways, platforms, stairs, ladders and handrails for a saltwater environment where fire performance, slip resistance and weight were critical considerations.

Ship ladders for a WWII plotting room
Custom GRP ship ladders provided a high-strength, lightweight access solution through the deep, narrow shaft of the National Trust’s Fan Bay Plotting Room, helping make a challenging heritage space accessible.

Find the GRP behind the project
The case studies show the application. These product families help you begin the buying route.
How to use these examples
Turn the closest case into your buying brief
Match the environment
Identify water, chemicals, UV, fire, electrical, rail or heavy-use conditions.
Define the product
Choose grating, profile, cover, stair, platform, ladder or handrail families.
Check the detail
Confirm size, span, load, resin, colour, surface, fixings and cut requirements.
Select the route
Buy stock, request cutting, open a trade account or send a technical enquiry.
Have a similar GRP requirement?
Send us the application, dimensions, drawings and photographs. We will help route it toward stocked products, cut-to-size material, trade supply or wider group project support.
