A baseplate converts post bending into anchor tension/compression, plate bending and local substrate forces. Selecting it by post size alone can overlook the governing failure mode.

Top-mounted and side-mounted posts create different load paths. Use the configuration that has been designed and tested; do not interchange plates solely because the post fits.

Specification note: Anchor capacity from a catalogue is not the handrail capacity. Verify the baseplate, anchor group and existing substrate for the applied system load and actual edge geometry.
